Mad Poets

Delaware Co. Institute of Science—Media, Pennsylvania

7:00 - 9:00pm

Featured Reader with A.V. Christie

"The stage at the Institute of Science is littered with stuffed birds, a giant rib, and an oversized vertebra, creating the perfect climate for poetry inspired by science and nature. Reading with A.V. Christie was a treat. Her poems about her brother were moving."

Monday Poets

Free Library of Philadelphia—Main Branch (Vine St.)

6:30 - 8:30pm

Featured Reader with Kristine Grow

"I love the Skyline Room of the Free Library. On Monday nights, you can look out the oversized windows onto a Philadelphia skyline spangled with lights. I read a number of pieces from a new manuscript, ANIMAL, as well as favorites from COW POETRY. Kristine's plant and myth poems were especially nice, as was the open mic. Dessert at the nearby Rose Tattoo restaurant polished off the evening."

"An Evening of New Women's Voices"

Featured Reader with Alison Hicks

"Alison and I read upstairs, a cozy space tucked beside the café. We had a great audience, engaged and engaging. Maleka from Big Blue Marble was a perfect hostess and even joined in the open mic! I loved reading with Alison. Her poetry is very sensual, a nice contrast to my more science-oriented work especially since we often touch upon similar subjects."

Philadelphia Stories—First Tuesday Reading

Voices & Visions

Featured Reader

"This was my first time as a featured reader—despite having a weak voice from a bout of London flu, I enjoyed the experience tremendously. I found being the middle act between two fiction writers an interesting place to be—enviable, even. After the long stretch of attention fiction requires, poetry can offer a respite, room to breathe, an open space. Just what the audience needs."
